Tax Matters provides a friendly, low cost and prompt Accountancy service to clients within the Highlands of Scotland.

My name is Alan Macdonald and I am based in Inverness, my office is at 23 Seafield Road, Inverness. I specialise in preparing Year End Accounts and completing Tax Returns for self employed people and Partnerships. I believe in giving my clients a good professional service at a sensible, affordable price.

The majority of my clients are local Tradesman such as Painters, Joiners, Plumbers, Electricians, Builders etc. as well as Guest Houses - Bed & Breakfasts, Driving Instructors, Doctors, Buy to Let Landlords and many other small businesses.

I pride myself in giving good service and when you phone my office I will answer your call and assist you in any way I can. I am down to earth with a sense of humour, very approachable and a million miles away from the stuffy accountant talking to you in riddles. I speak plain English and will go to great lengths to make sure you understand your Tax Position and possible Tax liabilities. I always provide a fixed price before carrying out any work and an idea of my Fees are listed under “Fee’s” link to the left top of the page. I always provide a Tax Calculation showing exactly how much Tax you should pay and when to pay it.

If you are a Tradesman on the Construction Industry Scheme (CIS) my rates are low and I aim to get you a tax rebate very quickly should you qualify for one. I had a clients refund of £1103.00 in his bank 4 days after submitting Tax Return so I don't mess about.

Due to the volume of work carried out and bearing in mind I am a one man band there are certain criteria I stipulate in taking new clients on, briefly my rules of engagement are (but not restricted to):

I am not in the business of charging people for telephone conversations, letters to their banks to assist with mortgage applications, references, general advice.
I am happy to assist with these type of matters free of charge.
I am at the other end of the phone to speak with in person at all times, that is my job and I do not charge for this supposing you phone me 10 times a day.
If I am with a client, please leave your name & number and I will call you back ASAP.

My Fees as set out (see side link) are my annual Fees and there is no more to pay.

I represent the local self-employed people of Inverness, Ross-shire, Nairn etc. (and the U.K in general by postal service) and give a good value for money, quality Accountancy service at a fraction of the big Fees the larger local Accountancy firms often charge.
I had a window cleaner in last week whose last Accountant charged him £1,100 for his accounts and tax return, before that a small guest house was hit with a £3,200 bill for Accountancy work, well you will not find that kind of nonsense fees with Tax Matters.

You try popping into your current Accountants office without an appointment and see how you get on. If you are lucky enough to meet them a bill will no doubt follow for around £100.
